Roosevelt Institute's Good Life Resident Program

The Roosevelt Institute is accepting applications for its 2026 Good Life Resident Program, a six-month paid residency that supports emerging policy leaders in developing bold, people-centered ideas on today’s most pressing economic issues.

The current residency, offered in partnership with Data & Society, focuses on AI and Finance and explores how public policy can shape the rapid growth of artificial intelligence while promoting economic fairness, innovation, and worker protections.

Selected residents will join a small cohort of three to four participants and work closely with Roosevelt Institute policy experts, senior advisors, and fellow residents. During the residency, participants will develop an original 1,500-word policy essay, participate in discussions with subject matter experts, contribute to public events, and may take part in media and public engagement opportunities.

Residency Benefits

Successful applicants will receive:

  • US$3,000 stipend
  • Travel and accommodation for required program events, where applicable

Current Policy Focus: AI and Finance

The 2026 residency invites applicants to develop policy ideas addressing issues such as:

  • Public oversight of AI investment and financial markets
  • Government strategies to encourage responsible AI innovation
  • Public investment in technology research and development
  • Democratic governance of capital allocation
  • AI policy that balances innovation, worker protections, sustainability, and national competitiveness

Eligibility

Applicants should have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence, technology policy, industrial policy, economics, finance, public policy, or a related field.
  • At least five years of professional or academic policy experience.
  • Strong research, analytical, and policy writing skills.
  • An interest in developing practical, people-centered economic policy solutions.
