The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) in Qatar has launched five new intellectual property e-services as part of its ongoing digital transformation efforts, bringing the total number of available IP e-services to seven.
According to the Ministry, the initiative aims to streamline procedures, accelerate transaction processing, and enhance the quality of services provided to creators and rights holders.
The newly launched services include:
- Application for the Registration of a Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Deposit Certificate
- Application for a “To Whom It May Concern” Certificate
- Application for the Issuance of a Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Certificate
- Application for Amendment of Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Registration
- Application for Waiver of a Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Deposit Certificate
MOCI stated that the services are designed to support a wide range of copyright beneficiaries, including poets, researchers, authors of literary works and screenplays, composers, music arrangers, artists, designers, architects, and developers of computer software and applications.
The Ministry also noted that neighbouring rights beneficiaries will benefit from the new services. These include performing artists such as singers, actors, and musicians, producers of sound recordings, and radio and television broadcasting organizations.
The launch forms part of Qatar’s broader efforts to strengthen intellectual property protection and improve access to government services through digital platforms.
MOCI shared details of the new services through its official X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting the initiative as a step toward improving efficiency and supporting innovation and creative industries in Qatar.
