The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), in collaboration with the National Health Research Ethics Committee (NHREC), has announced new dates for its mandatory stakeholders training on clinical trial regulations in Nigeria.

The training, which was previously postponed, will now take place from October 5 to October 9, 2026, at the Airport Golden Tulip Hotel, 42/44 Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road, Lagos State. Sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. daily.

According to NAFDAC, the training is part of efforts by NAFDAC and NHREC to strengthen regulatory compliance, ethical conduct and quality systems in the implementation of clinical trials in Nigeria.

The program is designed to improve participants’ understanding of clinical research requirements and help investigators and other clinical research stakeholders comply with international best practices and national regulatory requirements.

The training is primarily intended for principal investigators, physicians, pharmacists, nurses, ethics committee members, clinical trial contract research organisations, sponsors, data managers, clinical laboratory personnel and other clinical research personnel.

Participants who successfully complete the training will receive certification to participate in clinical research. NAFDAC said the certification forms part of its regulatory requirements for investigators involved in implementing clinical trials in Nigeria.

The participation fee is ₦250,000 per participant, covering registration, tea break and lunch.

External stakeholders who wish to participate are required to register and confirm their attendance. NAFDAC provided separate contact details for payment enquiries and hotel reservations.

NAFDAC and NHREC said the training is intended to strengthen stakeholders’ understanding of clinical trial regulations and support compliance with the regulatory and ethical requirements governing clinical research in Nigeria.
