Overview
This article examines the relationship between research and development (R&D), innovation, and economic growth in Nigeria. The study evaluates how R&D expenditure, labour force, and capital formation contribute to economic performance over a 31-year period from 1977 to 2007.
The paper highlights that while R&D plays an important role in economic growth, increased spending alone is insufficient without strong institutions, effective policies, and collaboration between industry and academia.
